Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 19, 2026
1. Introduction
The Moments app (hereinafter referred to as "the App") is developed and operated by orderword. We recognize that privacy is a fundamental digital asset belonging to you. This Privacy Policy is designed to transparently explain how we handle your data and protect your privacy, ensuring strict adherence to Apple App Store guidelines.
Our Core Principle: We do not collect, upload, or sell your personal data unless it is mechanically necessary to provide core functional services.
2. Data Collection and Usage
In accordance with Apple’s data transparency standards, our data practices are categorized as follows:
A. On-Device Data (Not Linked to Your Identity)
The following data is stored exclusively on your local device or within your private iCloud storage. We cannot access, view, or collect this information:
- Photos and Videos: When you select media to use within the App, we request access to your Photo Library or Camera. This data is processed locally for display and editing; we never upload your media files to any external servers.
- Biometric Information (FaceID/TouchID): Used for app-locking features. The authentication is handled entirely by the iOS system. The App only receives a success/fail signal and never accesses your raw biometric data.
- Local Passcode: Passcodes set within the App are encrypted using the iOS Keychain. We do not store these on any server and cannot assist with passcode recovery.
- iCloud Data: If you enable iCloud sync, your data is transmitted via Apple’s CloudKit framework to your personal iCloud account. We have no access to the contents of this data.
B. Data Collected for Functional Purposes
To provide specific features, we process the following data through specialized service providers:
- Location Information (Precise Location)
- Purpose: To retrieve and display real-time weather and location information for your current location.
- Processing: This is entirely optional. Location data is sent to OpenWeather to fetch weather updates and is not used to track your movement history or build a profile.
- Identifiers and Subscription Data
- Purpose: To manage In-App Purchases (IAP) and subscription status.
- Processing: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. We use your anonymous Apple ID identifier to verify purchase rights. While your Apple account name or email may be used locally to personalize the interface, this information is not collected or stored on our servers.
- Diagnostics (Crash Logs)
- Purpose: To analyze app performance and improve stability.
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We integrate the following SDKs to ensure app functionality. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for more details:
- Apple iCloud/CloudKit
- Data Processed: Journal entries, media files, and app preferences.
- Purpose: To provide cross-device synchronization and data backup services.
- Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
- OpenWeather
- RevenueCat
4. Data Storage and Protection
- Retention: Most app data is deleted when the App is uninstalled. Subscription-related data is handled by RevenueCat according to their Data Retention Policy.
- Security: We utilize iOS system-level encryption to protect local data. All data transmitted to third-party services (such as weather requests) is secured via encrypted HTTPS connections.
5. Children’s Privacy
The App does not contain content inappropriate for minors. However, we recommend that children aged 9 and above use the App under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You maintain full control over your data through the following methods:
- Revoke permissions for Camera, Location, or FaceID at any time via iOS Settings.
- Disable iCloud synchronization within the App’s settings.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions directly through the Apple App Store.
7. Disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any delays, interruptions, or errors in service caused by Force Majeure events. This includes, but is not limited to, government actions, natural disasters, communication line failures, hacker attacks, system maintenance, technical adjustments by telecommunications departments, or issues arising from the inherent nature of the software. We will make every effort to restore services promptly should such events occur.
8. Updates to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be notified by posting the updated policy on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
